Steven Bruce Cochran 49, of Silt, Colo., died Thursday, May 29 in Glenwood Springs, Colo.

He was born in Modesto to Bruce and Sharynn (nee Bookwalter) Cochran and later, stepson to Benny Tipton. He grew up and went to school in Escalon and achieved notable success in athletics and academics.

In the early 1990s he moved to Colorado and remained for the rest of his years. He lived with his family on the west slope of the Rocky Mountains.

Mr. Cochran was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, particularly archery, golfing, swimming and hiking.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Cochran; son, Justin Cochran; stepsons, Thomas (Andrea) Maddalone, David (Amlee) Maddalone; sister, Melanie Cochran; nieces, Mellisa (Allen) Dillon, Amanda (David) Sanders, Autymn (Jeff) Simms, Sage Che; cousins, Misty Cooley, Bernadette May, Brandy (Dennis) Clemons, Kimberly Gomez; many second cousins; and many friends who live in the Escalon and Oakdale area.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 21 in Silt, Colo.
