Sheila Marlene (Hellman-Johnston) Valim, 51, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 5 surrounded by her devoted husband of 25 years, Jorge, and her loving family, after her courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Feb.1, 1962.

Those who knew Sheila felt blessed to have her love and friendship.

She graduated from Manteca High School. She was going back to school to get her degree in psychology when she was first diagnosed.

A gifted and talented cake decorator, everyone who enjoyed her delicious cakes became a fan. She also had a whimsical side, where she became ‘Shebo’ the clown, entertaining children of all ages.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ripon. Sheila served in several positions for her church. Her devotion to God was shown through her dedication to her church and its members.

Survivors include her husband, Jorge; sons Jorge Jr. (Jessica) Valim of Lathrop, Justin Johnston of Honolulu, Joe Valim of Escalon, Jeremy (Ashleigh) Valim of Escalon; daughters Michele Valim of Manteca, Amanda Sanchez of Escalon; 10 grandchildren, six siblings, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family members.

Over the years Jorge and Sheila had several foreign exchange students from Japan.

Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery at a private service on Friday, Oct. 11.

A remembrance service was held at the Portuguese Social Hall on Sunday, Oct. 13.
