ROY WILBUR BUSCH

Roy Busch

Roy Wilbur Busch, 73, found peace on June 18, 2015. He was born May 10, 1942 in Modesto.  His parents Kaj and Marian Busch, as well as his stepdaughter Stacey Gonsalves, preceded him in death.  Roy was raised in Ripon and resided in Manteca for the last 46 years.
Roy is survived by his wife of 26 years Donna Busch.  Roy is also survived by his children Michelle Mack (husband Tim), Kaj Busch (wife Roxane), and stepchildren Jennifer Horne, and Jason Moller.  He was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Megan, Caitlin, Taylor, Trenton, Kayla, Hailey, Julie, Tyler, and Jordan. His sister Doris Ann Weber and former wife Sandy LaMar also survive Roy. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was recruited from Ripon High School for exceptional math skills by Cal-Trans where he retired after 43 years of dedicated service.  After retirement Roy worked an additional 7 years for Nolte & Blackburn as an analyst.  He served his local community as a 35-year member of the Lions Club International of Manteca.  Roy could often be seen pulling the beer tap at the yearly corned beef and cabbage and calamari fundraiser dinners with a smile on his face.  As a son of a merchant marine immigrant from Denmark, Roy’s passion was sailing.  Roy spent many hours with his family on local lakes where they found solitude and peace.  He also took great interest in politics, even running for state assembly on the Libertarian ticket.  We cannot forget how much enjoyment he got listening to his jazz and big band music.  His favorite place was Pinecrest Lake where he vacationed every summer with his entire extended family for the last 50 years.  Roy was most remembered as our family’s “rock.”  Roy was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan who never missed an event or an opportunity to encourage his family.  We will miss you “Papa” until we meet again, “Tradition.”
P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Busch family.  Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 12:30 p.m. both held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. He will be laid to rest at Ripon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Lions Club, P.O. Box 204, Manteca, CA 95336.  An online guest book is available for condolences to the family at www.plfryandson.com (search obituaries).
