Richard Lloyd Kearsley, the Patriarch of our family, peacefully passed with his family by his side at his long-time home in Escalon, honoring his final wishes of staying home. Richard was the only child of Richard Algie and Marie Kearsley. He was born in French Camp, but lived his early childhood in Grants Pass, Oregon. When he was twelve, the family moved to a ranch in Escalon where his son Gary still farms, and family members still reside.
In 1954, Richard met and married the love of his life, Gail. They were married 56 years until her passing in 2011. In 1955, they were blessed with their son Gary, followed by their daughter, Debbie in 1957. They enjoyed raising their children, spending time with their grandchildren, dancing, fishing, playing games and traveling to other counties, but mostly enjoyed spending weekends on their houseboat at Don Pedro Lake with his family and friends.
In the early 60’s, Richard joined his mother in her chicken business. Richard Algie joined them and together they started R.A. Kearsley and Son, Inc. A short time later, two other partners went together forming MKT, which founded Rebecca Farms marketing Becky Eggs.
Besides being a very successful businessman, Richard loved his community and was involved in many organizations within it. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, Chamber of Commerce President, School Board Member, Senior Mr. Escalon, Worshipful Master in the Masonic Lodge and Potentate for the Shrine Club. Richard was an extremely generous man. Not only did he give freely to all the organizations he was involved in, he gave to numerous other charities and people in need.
Richard is survived by his children, Gary Kearsley (Patty) and Debbie Teixeira (Manuel) both of Modesto; grandchildren, Daylene Reeves (Jeremy) of Ripon, Misty Booth (Elvis) of Escalon, Tyson Teixeira (Heather) of Escalon, Michelle Kearsley of Modesto, Scott Kearsley of Nashville, TN, Jared Kearsley (Jennifer) of Rocklin; step-grandchildren, Brandi Manning (Rick) of Modesto, Elizabeth Musser of Modesto, Trisha Hallinan and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gail.
Richard’s kind heart, quick wit and unique sense of humor will be missed tremendously by all who were blessed to call him Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa or a friend!
