Richard Johnson passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021, with his wife and twin sister beside him. He was born in Escalon on June 21, 1940, to Luther and Hazel Johnson. He graduated from Burwood Grammar School, Escalon High School and attended Modesto Junior College until he joined the Air Force in 1958. He was a proud Air Force Veteran. He kept the planes flying for his eight years of service.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness, his love of storytelling, and his love for his motorcycle. He loved the 49ers and the Giants, he belonged to the American Legion, and he loved his family. Richard loved traveling. He and his wife traveled across the United States and visited many countries.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte; his loving twin sister, RuthAnn; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as special family friends, Kevin and Connor Crozier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Hazel Johnson; his brothers, Albert and David; sisters, Ethel Ritchey and Alice Johnson.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Johnson family. A viewing and chapel service will be held at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St. in Escalon on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road in Escalon.
