Richard G. Ohland, 84, passed away Sunday, March 30.

He was born Feb. 26, 1930 in Modesto, CA to parents Ernest and Opal Ohland. He graduated from Modesto High School in 1949, playing on the champion baseball team. He joined the Coast Guard and spent three years serving in Alameda and Hawaii.

He married Roberta Veneman in 1953, they had 61 years together, having three children: Doug Ohland (Karen) of Ripon; Linda Albert (Frank) of Manteca; and Jim Ohland (Lyann) of El Centro, CA. He was known as Papa to grandchildren Matt Albert (Michelle), Ashley Shrader (Josh), Jeff Ohland, Renee Rodriguez (Jonathan), Nicolaas, Nathaan and Nash Ohland; and two great grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers. He retired to Escalon following a career of farming in the Modesto area.

Services are planned for Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at Escalon Presbyterian Church.
