Michael Patrick McGann, 54, died Tuesday, Oct. 7 in Hughson after a courageous battle against cancer.

He was born in Burbank and grew up in Sunland. From 1978-80, Mr. McGann served a full-time mission in Venezuela for the LDS church. In 1984 he graduated with a B.S. in accounting from Brigham Young University.

After graduating, he married Joan Bartholomew in Provo, UT. He raised his family in Escalon. For the last several years he has been employed at Medex Practice Solutions in Oakdale.

He enjoyed scouting, fishing, morning walks with his wife, the outdoors, family and friends. He was passionate about his work, his family and his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be remembered as a devoted father and husband, a true friend and a humble servant of God.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Jared Keith and Michael Taylor; parents, William Lageman McGann and Mary Lucille Rose McGann; sisters, Mary Catherine Walters-Gillick, Mary Ann McGann and Mary Elizabeth Lian.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 10 at the LDS Sylvan Chapel in Modesto.
