MARY CAROLYN MOORE NASH

Mary Carolyn Moore Nash died May 29, 2018, at age 83. She was born in Nephi Utah on September 13, 1934. She married John D. Nash in August 1955; and together they have lived in Logan Utah, San Diego, Berkeley, Modesto, Sugar City Idaho, and Oakdale California. She is survived by her husband, five children, 26 of 27 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. Her children are Jenni Lyn Abbott of Modesto, Julie Reeves of Utah (married to Shawn), Deanne Nash of Idaho, Johnny Nash of North Carolina (married to Rulaine), and Amanda Bell of Oakdale (married to Brent). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Denny, and one grandson.
Mary was a high school valedictorian and honor graduate from Utah State University, with a degree in Social Work. She worked part-time for the Salvation Army in Modesto, she taught Adult Literacy, and Parent-Child Relations at Modesto Jr. College and in Escalon. Mostly, she was a homemaker, making her home a desirable place for her descendants, and so many friends.
She was deeply involved in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a beautiful Alto singing voice; and she directed choirs and congregations for years. She was an artist, she sculpted, and she loved to fly kites. Mostly, she loved people and was never known to be a critic.
A viewing was held at Deegan Funeral Home in Escalon on Friday, June 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel on ‘A’ Street, Oakdale.
