Marjorie Rosemary ‘Marge’ Adrian, 88, passed away Thursday, April 17 with her family at her side.

She was born Marjorie Rosemary Holmes on Nov. 26, 1925 in Oakland. She lived there until she met her future husband, Arthur George Adrian, at UC Berkeley. They married Dec. 1, 1946 and she then moved to the “country” in Escalon.

Mrs. Adrian loved life; one could hear her humming away in whatever she was doing. She and her husband traveled extensively after retirement. Both were members of Grace Lutheran Church, and faithful 49er fans.

She had many talents including playing the organ, gardening, oil painting, stained glass making and tole painting. A favorite was her famous green onion dip and potato salad that she brought to all family gatherings.

Survivors include her children Paul (Theresa), Scott (Anne) and Kim; five grandchildren, Shane (Denis), Donovan (Rachel), Matt (Cristen), Jefferson (Stephanie), and Leah (James); four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Madeleine, Harvey and Blake; plus many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arthur George Adrian, and her parents, Joseph and Carrie Holmes.

Arrangements are being handled by Deegan Funeral Chapel.

A service will be held Friday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Modesto. A celebration will follow at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club. The family asks that remembrances be made to your favorite charity.
