Mario Pena Lepe, 37, passed away unexpectedly while he was at work in San Ramon on Friday, Aug. 19.

He was born in Jalisco, Mexico on Oct. 22, 1973 and had been a resident of Escalon and the surrounding area for the past 20 years. He enjoyed working in the construction field and was currently employed by Padilla Construction doing stucco. He loved the outdoors and camping and especially enjoyed being with his family. He was a good friend and father who helped out many people.

Survivors include his children, Miguel A. Pena Marquez of Modesto, Isabel A. Pena of Escalon, Ricardo Pena of Escalon, and Alondra M. Pena of Escalon; the mother of his children, Jennifer Silveira of Escalon; his mother Maria Lepe Arce of Mexico; and his sisters Ramona Arce of Mexico, Celia Arce of Mexico and Gloria Arce of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father Salvador Pena in February 2011.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. Rosary/Mass will be on Saturday, Aug. 27 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon; his final resting place will be in Mexico.
