Manuel Simoes, 29, of Escalon died Wednesday, June 15 as the result of an auto accident in Ripon.

Born on Sept. 28, 1975 in Manteca, he had lived in Escalon his entire life.

He was a 1994 graduate of Escalon High School and graduated from Cal Poly in 2000, where he played football. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Escalon Lions Club. He worked for Pan American Underwriters in Stockton for five years.

His hobbies including bowling, snow skiing and golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Tara Simoes, whom he married on May 7, 2005; parents, John and Maria Simoes of Escalon; siblings, John Simoes of Escalon, Lucy Simoes of Tracy and Christina Brown of Escalon.

Visitation was held Monday, June 20 at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon. Rosary and Mass were Tuesday, June 21 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
