Manuel R. Pimentel, 94, died Sunday, June 1 at Oak Valley Hospital, Oakdale.

He was born in Milpitas to Manuel and Mary Pimentel of the Azores, Portugal. One of 11 children, his family farmed the local area.

Mr. Pimentel served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in Iceland, after which he returned to Milpitas and married Melba in 1951.

He joined the Milpitas Fire Department in 1955. He moved to Oakdale in 1972 and retired in 1977.

He spent his time raising and training horses, attending local livestock auctions, and enjoying Oakland A’s baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Melba; children, Doreen Pimentel of Emmett, Idaho, Dolores Morris of Escalon, Richard Pimentel of Polo, Mo.; grandchildren, Amanda Roberson of Kenneth Square, Pa., Joey Morris of Modesto; and great-grandchildren, Colby and Colton Morris of Oakdale.

Mass was held June 4 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ripon. Burial followed at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
