Lura M. Pereira, 84, of Escalon passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, Hughson.

Born on Oct. 19, 1923 in Stockton, she was raised in Stockton and settled in Escalon, where she lived for 64 years.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a great joy for her grandchildren; they were the center of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include son, David and his wife Sandy Pereira of Escalon; granddaughter, Kimberly Graham of Auckland, NZ; grandson, Joshua Graham of Auckland, NZ; brother, Frank Matteone of Stockton; cousin, Bev Limbaugh of Stockton; nieces, Lura Betz of Stockton and Ganette Martin of Fremont; and nephew, Joseph Woefel of Lodi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Pereira II; and her grandson, John Thomas Pereira III.

Graveside service was on Friday, June 20 at Burwood Cemetery, River Road, Escalon.
