She was born in Merced to Henry and Grace Stoops. She grew up in El Nido, attending El Nido Elementary and Merced High Schools. She was married to Robert Watt and had two children, James "Arno" and Robin.

She retired from Market Wholesale Grocery Company after 28 years of employment.

Linda had a passion for traveling within the United States and abroad, taking numerous trips over the years. Her hobbies were quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Country Crossroads Quilters Guild and the Modesto Garden Club.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Chandler Groves; three grandsons Chad, Clinton and Cameron, all of Farmington, her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Larry Thompson; niece Tricia (Matt) Messer; nephew Craig (Dawn) Thompson; and seven great nieces and one great nephew, all of Fresno.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Grace Stoops; her brother James Leroy and her son James "Arno."

Burial will be private.

A memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Escalon United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.
