Leotice (Lee) Doyle Wood passed away surrounded by his kids on May 24th at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, CA.
Lee was born in French Camp, CA on October 3rd, 1953 to Leotice and Ruth Wood of Lancaster, CA. He was the oldest of three boys. Lee played football, baseball and wrestled for the Bullfrogs and graduated from Bret Harte Union High School in 1972. Upon graduating, he attended Cosumnes River College. After his time at Cosumnes River, he moved up to Alaska to begin his career of 40-plus years as an ironworker.
In 1979, he made his move back to Angels Camp where he continued his work as an ironworker (alongside his dad) and found his way onto many softball teams and began his coaching career. In 1985, he moved down to Escalon and welcomed his daughter Amber the following year. In 1988, his son Brandon Leotice came along and in 2004 his daughter, Hannah joined the family.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching his kids, playing softball, teasing the younger generations, working on his many projects, spending time in Arizona and “Pop-sitting” his granddaughters. He will be remembered by many as their cousin, coach, friend, neighbor and favorite Dodger fan.
Lee is survived by his mother, Jimmie Ruth Wood, his brother Jimmie Wood, his children Amber Cromwell and her husband Cameron, Brandon Wood and his wife Alisa and Hannah Wood. His granddaughters Graysen and Anisten Cromwell. His nephews Jeremy (Alicia) Wood and Jon Wood.
Lee is preceded in death by his father Leotice Wood and his brother Donny Wood.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 12 p.m. at Angels Gun Club at 2403 Gunclub Road, Angels Camp, CA. A reception will immediately follow.
