Lawrence Herbert "Larry" Nomelli, 87, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

He was born on March 8, 1920 in Guadalupe, CA and was a resident of Escalon for 60 years, then Modesto for 15 years. He was a veteran of the US Army 39th infantry, and received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He retired from Gallo where he worked for 35 years.

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife who he loved dearly, bartending, wrestling, football and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved his brothers and sisters whole heartedly, he will surely be missed.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Roberta Nomelli; his daughter Linda Skusak of Spanaway WA; his step daughters Kelly Duke and her husband Dan of Riverbank and Niccole Pitz and her husband Tim of Colfax; his sisters Linda Overmeyer and Daisy McDowell; his brother Angello Nomelli; his grandchildren Danny Nomelli, Jo Anne Tompkins and John Skusak; his step grandchildren Paige Kimes, Allison Kimes, Brendan Pitz and Riley Pitz.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Janet Herrera and Donna Nomelli and his siblings, Sylvio Nomelli, Ernest Nomelli, Atillio Nomelli and Bill Nomelli.

Graveside service will be on Friday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road in Escalon.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, c/o Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
