LaVonne Marguerite Xavier, 70, died on Thursday, Sept. 30 after a short battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 30, 1939 in Stockton to Larry and Winona Gaudreau. As a young child the family moved to Escalon, where she lived until a few years ago. She attended schools in Escalon, graduating in 1957 from Escalon High School. She married that summer to Joe Xavier, together they had four sons.

She was a medical transcriber, she owned and operated her own business for many years, semi retiring several years ago. Mrs. Xavier loved to sew, knit and crochet, creating many beautiful gifts for her family over the years.

Survivors include her sons, Stanley (Debbie) Xavier, Dan (Ramona) Xavier, all of Oakdale, Mike (Lisa) Xavier of Manteca; daughter-in-law JoEllen Xavier of Ripon; grandchildren, Travis (Skylar), Taylor, Rachel, Jacob, Christy and Alex; brother, Larry Gaudreau of Texas; sisters, Lorretta (Ted) Guazzini of Fallon, NV, Beverly (Mike) Reis of Stockton, step-mother Alta Gaudreau of Oakdale; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Edward Xavier; her parents and step-father Wayne Orton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Escalon. Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon.

The Escalon
