Karl Marion Geletich, Jr. peacefully passed away August 10, 2021, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Karl was born April 13, 1937 to Karl and Marie Geletich in Oakland, California. His parents immigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia in 1922. As a child, Karl attended St. Elizabeth’s Elementary School in Oakland, and is where he met Jo Ann Altomare. After a long courtship, they were married in 1960. Karl attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga and graduated with his bachelor’s degree. After college, Karl enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served four years.
Karl went on to work for Silgan Containers in Riverbank and retired after 30 years to continue the passion he and Jo shared for Dog Shows and traveling all over the world, where they were well known for their exquisite breed of show dogs. They were ranked #1 in the United States, and throughout the world, as well as multi-champions. They shared this passion for 50 years. Karl had a great sense of humor; he always had a joke to tell and smile on his face.
Karl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jo Geletich; son, Chris Geletich (Deborah) of Modesto; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hinton of Modesto; grandchildren, Sierra, Keyondra, Whitney and Ashley Geletich. He is preceded in death by his son, Karl Geletich, III; granddaughter, Denean Geletich and sisters, Rose Gurnari, Mary Peterson, Julia Tomasek and infant brother, Frank, who passed on the passage over to the United States.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Geletich family. A funeral mass was held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church followed by Committal at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
