Karen Lee Pearson entered peacefully into rest on July 16th 2020. She is survived by her husband Birger Pearson of 63 years, her children Ingrid Persson and her husband Jose, David Pearson, Kristin Gonzalez and her husband Alfredo, Daniel Pearson, Steven Pearson, Anders Pearson and her Grandchildren Elizabeth, Jacob, Jonathan, Michael, Victoria, Turner, Jesus, Rosie, Genna, Laura and Kimberlee. She had 9 Great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Candace Heurlin and nephew Jesse. Karen grew up in Escalon, California as the daughter to the local nurse Esther Heurlin and the local plumber Lee Heurlin. After marrying her husband they moved East and eventually settled in Goleta Ca. with a 2 year stint in Stangby, Sweden before returning home to Goleta. Upon her husbands’ retirement from the University of California at Santa Barbara, they returned to their hometown of Escalon to live out their remaining years, close to the family they love.
Although she once sat at the table with the King of Sweden and counted as her dear friend an Italian Countess and traveled the worldwide, she never lost sight of the importance of remaining humble. She was outspoken against any injustice. As a mother she was the fiercest advocate: and as a wife, she was a faithful companion. Her voice may have been silenced, but she lives on in all of us.
