Jon “Chet” Ney, 93, of Escalon passed away May 23, 2020 with his loving sons by his side. He was born November 16, 1926 in Addington, OK to Henry and Nellie Ney. At the age of 10, the family moved to Escalon, CA. When Jon was 16, he enlisted with the United States Navy during WWII. He served in the Pacific Theatre Battles in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After being Honorably Discharged, he came back home and began driving truck for Panella Trucking for many years. At the age of 40, Jon saved up his money and started a small business as a car dealer. He was in the used car business for 45 years until his retirement at 85. Throughout his life, he was avid poker player and enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. He was always a champion for his two sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.
Jon is survived by his sons, Greg (Jeannie) Ney of Snohomish, WA and Bryan (Holly) Ney of Escalon, grandchildren, Jon Ney of Las Vegas, Marc Ney of Escalon and Courtney Ney of Escalon. His is preceded in death by his wife, Zona. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A private burial was held at Burwood Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to everyone involved with Community Hospice for their compassionate and considerate care for Dad.
