After retirement, she volunteered many hours at the Senior Center, primarily for the lunch program and meals on wheels. She and her husband John were given the honorary title of Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon in 1990.

She is survived by her three children, Ray Ennis of Centreville, VA, Pat Ennis of Sonora and Marilyn Girard of Santa Cruz; her sister, Helen Howard of New Zealand; sisters-in-law Molly Carruth and Polly Ennis of Escalon; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her husband John preceded her in death in 1996.
