Jan was born in Oceanside, CA. She moved to Escalon with her parents Henry and Iris Karr, her older brother, and younger sister in 1950 and never left. She met Doyle Sutton of Escalon and married January 23, 1965. They had three sons and made Escalon their home.
Jan made many unbreakable friendships in the area. She had so much love and kept lasting relationships with the many children she connected with while working for the school district for over thirty years. She had no shortage of love for her family, friends, and community with never ending pride for each.
Jan was hard working and held a variety of jobs, including helping on the family farm, Bud’s Frosty, Escalon Packers, bookkeeping for several Escalon businesses, teacher’s aide at Dent Elementary, and Escalon Unified custodian and bus driver at Dent, El Portal, Collegeville, and Farmington schools. Throughout her busy family life and career she was receptionist, parts runner, and bookkeeper for the family business TD Sutton and Son Pumps and was never afraid to jump in and get her hands dirty if needed.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Doyle Sutton, parents Henry and Iris Karr, brother Gene Karr, sister Bev Wilson, and grandson Evan Sousa. She is survived by her sons Steve (Tami) Sutton, Dave (Allison) Sutton, Chad (Liz) Sutton, four grandchildren, two2 great grandchildren and a group of the best friends anyone could ask for.
Jan asked that in lieu of flowers please plant a tree, flower, or shrub in your yard in her memory or make a donation to Community Hospice, or foundation of your choice in her name.
An Open House to share memories and love for Jan is planned for Saturday, March 12, 2022 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at her home for any friends or family that would like to come. Food and drinks will be provided.
