James Martin Stone, 75, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, March 15.
He was born on April 21, 1932 and moved to Escalon as a young boy in the early 1940s, arriving with his parents, Ollie L. and Beatrice P. Stone, living on Sexton Road. He attended grammar school and high school in Escalon and worked years ago at the Den Dulk Chicken Ranch in Ripon.
Mr. Stone served in the Korean War and was discharged in Fort Lewis, Washington in 1957; that is where he met his wife and the two lived for many years in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol; two sons, Thomas and wife Tammie Stone of Bullhead City and Merton Ollie and wife Jackie Stone of Altus, Oklahoma; siblings, Louella M. Tune of Escalon, Dallas Lee and Norman Stone of Escalon, George Stone of Modesto and John Stone of Redding; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rufus and Donivan Stone and sister, Jewell Gray, all of Escalon.
