James Michael Rownd, 24, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 in Modesto, due to a vehicle accident.

He was born Sept. 10, 1984 in San Leandro, California and was a Modesto resident for the last 21 years.

James was a graduate of Modesto High School Class of 2002. He was employed at Roberts Auto Sales for the past four years as an automobile detailer. He believed in love and respect and was an independent, soft-spoken, individual with a big-heart who loved helping others.

A custom import car and truck enthusiast, he also enjoyed many other hobbies such as: weight lifting, listening to hip-hop music, cooking, spending time with friends, watching movies, playing video games as well as outdoor activities like camping, skateboarding, riding bicycles and dirt bikes. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his parents, John T. and Jacqueline L. Rownd of Modesto; his grandmother, Lorraine M. Spangenberg; his brother, Marshall J. Rownd and his sister, Amber L. Rownd, both of Modesto; many aunts, uncles and cousins in California, Florida, Ohio and South Carolina.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Escalon United Methodist Church in Escalon.

The family requests that donations be made to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, P.O. Box 691237, Stockton, CA 95269 in lieu of flowers.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
