Helen Melton

Helen Lois Melton passed away peacefully on January 4, 2016 in Modesto at the age of 81. Helen was born on September 16, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado to William and Velma Daman. Helen has been a resident of Modesto for the past 55 years. Helen retired from Tri-Valley Growers after 22 years and was a member of Local Teamsters 748. Throughout her life, Helen enjoyed handicrafts and gardening. People would often drive by and stop in front of her house to admire her flower garden. She was an excellent cook and an avid NASCAR and Denver Broncos fan. Helen and her husband traveled throughout Europe and she enjoyed camping with her family. Later in life, Helen was a member of River Oak Grace Community Church. Above all else, Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother that will be deeply missed.
Helen leaves behind her children: Kirk Melton, Kennie Melton (Renee) and Debbie Melton Stewart (Bradd), along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Floyd Allen Melton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapels. A Visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon. A chapel service is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon.
Helen’s family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and staff at Community Hospice and Hy-Lond Nursing Home for all the loving care that Helen received during her illness.
