Harriett Elizabeth Edwards, 99, passed away on January 1, 2009 at Laurel Creek Care Center in Fairfield. She was born on Aug. 5, 1909.

She married Worth Newton Edwards on June 7, 1931, who died in 1983 after more than 50 years of marriage.

Her hobbies were gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and especially crocheting. She is a past member and president of the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary Association.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Bowser, Rose Anderson and Alice Gilbert; three grandchildren, Gene Roles, Wanda Ceonzo and Betty Cummings; six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Barbara Roles of Fairfield.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon.

Her services will be on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin Street in Escalon; burial will follow at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 East River Road in Escalon.
