George A. Lelieur, 88, of Escalon died Sunday, June 14 in the presence of his wife and other family members.

He was born in Oakdale. On October 22, 1940, he married Josephine Cordoni, which was on his birthday, so that he wouldn't forget his anniversary. They have shared their lives for 68 years.

He entered the Army during World War II in 1944 where he served for two years.

Mr. Lelieur was a long time farmer and dairyman on a 60 acre ranch out in the Valley Home area since 1947, where he also grew rice and raised Hereford and Angus cattle for market.

He was a dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed fishing in his free time.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; son, Gerald; three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Michael.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 17 from 2p.m.-5p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon. A graveside service will be at 10a.m. on Thursday, June 18 at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon.
