Elizabeth "Betts" Den Ouden, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24 at Bethany Home in Ripon.

She was born on September 15, 1920 in Rock Valley, Iowa and was a resident of Escalon for 44 years. She enjoyed walking, reading, baking, flowers and doing volunteer work. She was a member of Escalon Christian Reformed Church where she helped with the Service Guild, Golden Hour Circle, and Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. She was a faithful member of the Oakdale Chapter of TOPS and KOPS for over 30 years.

She is survived by her children, Casey Den Ouden of Escalon, Linda Taatjes of Grand Rapids Michigan and Dave Den Ouden of Escalon; her brothers, Rich De Bie of Paramount and Dick De Bie of Lake Havasu, Arizona; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo in 2003, her son Lonnie in 1976, her parents, nine brothers and one sister.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon with her memorial service following at 11 a.m. at Escalon Christian Reformed Church.
