Edward Paul Leipelt, Sr., 94, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in San Francisco, California on April 25, 1918, and was an Escalon resident for 71 years. He served in the Army, and World War II. He was very active in the Boy Scout Troops achieving the level of Eagle Scout and serving as Assistant Scout Master.

He worked at San Joaquin Mosquito Abatement for 30 years as the Assistant Manager, and was the Secretary of the Mariposa Drainage District. He was a member of the Mason Morning Star Lodge 68 and Scottish Rite for 50-plus years, and Ben Ali Shriner, and a farmer for 70-plus years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Sylvia; their children Donna Ealy, Edward Jr., Steve, David and Darren; as well as 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Escalon Ambulance Fund or the Children's Shriners Hospital.
