Edelmira “Mira” Astabie peacefully passed away with her family by her side on December 19, 2022. Mira was born August 14, 1933 to Jovita and Martin Hernandez of Del Rio, Texas. She met the love of her life, Jacques Astabie in 1954 in Tracy, CA. They moved to San Francisco in 1962, where she worked for VNA (Visiting Nurse Association) for 39 years. After retiring, they moved to Escalon to be closer to her sons.

Mira was an avid baseball fan, she loved watching the games on TV. She was a member of the Senior Meal Program and also enjoyed gardening. Mira loved her community in Escalon and her church family at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Mira is survived by her three sons; David (Suzanne), Joseph and Paul (Cris) all of Escalon. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jessica (Jake), Joanne, Jason, Christopher, Dillon and Ariel, great-grandchildren, Jonathon (Madison), Max, Ethan and great-great grandson; Kennon.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Astabie family. Funeral services for Mira will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with a rosary at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Committal will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Escalon Community Ambulance and the St. Patrick’s Building fund.
