Don Shearer, age 71, passed away after a short illness on November 2, 2021 at his home in Escalon where he was a resident for over 30 years. Don was born to Delbert and Oleta Shearer in July of 1950 in Modesto and attended Stanislaus Union and Davis High. He married Gail Schmidt in 1972, raised three children and celebrated 49 years together. Don retired from ConAgra foods as a maintenance mechanic. He also worked at Tri-Valley Growers for over 20 years. He loved sports of all kinds (Go Giants, Warriors, and 49ers). He was also an avid fisherman. By some in his neighborhood, Don was thought of as the “Godfather” (keeping a better eye on his street than a security guard).

His family meant the world to him and they him. He is survived by his wife Gail, children: Erica McCulloch, Erin Connolly, and Jason Shearer. His grandchildren: Allie, Raven, Ian, Tommie, Remy, Dean, Dillan, Jade, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dortha. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on April 20, 2022 at Escalon Community Park on Escalon-Bellota Road from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
