David B. Ekholm, 71 of Sterling, IL died Tuesday September 5, 2017 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
He was born on May 3, 1946 in Hemet, CA the son of Paul Alexis and Margaret Bernadine (Brewster) Ekholm. David had served in Viet Nam with the US Army during the Viet Nam war.
He married the former Cheryl Olson on April 12, 1979 in Dixon, IL.
He worked as a truck driver for many years for various carriers most recently before retiring for Chuck Swanson from Prophetstown, IL. He was an avid golfer and a Chicago Bears fan. David was a member of the “Black Horse”, a Viet Nam veterans group. His family especially his grandchildren were of his great loves.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri; two daughters: Mitsy of Sterling, IL and daughter Miya (Jonathan) Kressin of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren: Ryan Bell of Dixon, IL, Rowan, Juniper and Hazel Kressin of Kenosha, WI; his sisters: Lucretia Brown of FL and Jackie Standard of Rock Falls, IL; his brothers: Fred Gooden, Ed Gooden and Rick Gooden all of GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services with military honors were held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL.
