Beverley Jean Tootle, 79, passed away due to cancer on Friday, Aug. 1 at her home in Modesto. Born on March 20, 1929, she was a teacher, mother and friend to all that knew her. Bev, as she was called by most, had a positive attitude about her; her smile lit up the room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger.

Survivors include her daughters, Jan Henkel of Albany, Oregon, Cara Ornellas of Ripon, and Jennifer Greenway of Alpharetta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Jessica Scovil, Jason Henkel and Jeremy Henkel, all of Albany, Alfred Ornellas, Brandon Ornellas, Justin Ornellas, Tyler Ornellas, all of Ripon; Parker Greenway and Brady Greenway, both of Alpharetta; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Mensinger of Modesto.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Governor Tootle, and her parents Cecil and Thelma Oliver.

A graveside service was Thursday, Aug. 7 at Burwood Cemetery on River Road in Escalon.
