Anna Coelho Luis passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 at the age of 89. The lord blessed the world when Anna was born on November 25, 1932 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton, CA to parents, John and Alice Pereira. She was the middle of three daughters and was raised on her family’s dairy farm on Robert’s Island in Stockton and graduated Edison High School. Anna has been a resident of San Joaquin County her entire life.
In 1952, Anna married Joe Luis, who was also raised on the farm with Anna and became the love of her life. Shortly after getting married, Anna and her husband Joe moved to Collegeville to start their family and dairy farm. Anna was a devoted homemaker for her family. On her time off, Anna loved to travel around the country to many states and antique with her husband, along with being part of the Portuguese community. She will be remembered for her sweet and loving demeanor and she loved to nurture and take care of her family.
Anna leaves behind her children, Joseph C. Luis, JoAnna Luis-Tucker (Jerry), Elizabeth Enberg (Thomas) and Jennifer Read (Gary); her grandchildren, Chad Parsons (Jessica), Michael Parsons, Jon Enberg and Allison Enberg along with her two great grandsons, Benjamin and Zachary Parsons. Anna also leaves behind her sisters, Alice P. Torlai and Mary Diane Coelho (Raymond) along with her nieces and nephews. Anna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Luis.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Luis family. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 25th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 6 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 26th at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon.
Remembrances in Anna’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Dining Hall in Stockton, California.
