Alvin L Borba passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 7, 2016 in Hughson at the age of 80 after his battle with lung cancer. Alvin was born on September 30, 1935 to John and Mary Borba in Terceira, Azores. When Alvin was 14, he and his family immigrated to the United States. Alvin worked most of his life in the dairy industry. He partnered with his brother and eventually owned and operated his own dairy with his sons until he retired in 1996. Alvin was one of the original founders of the Azores band of Escalon. He was also a past president of the Oakdale F.E.S and a past president of the Stockton C.P.S.C. He was also an active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Above all else, Alvin was devoted to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be deeply missed. Alvin leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Lucy Borba, his children, Alvin Borba (Donna) of Escalon, Jeff Borba of Hickman and Danny Borba of Escalon, his grandchildren, Cassity Borba of Los Angeles, Bryce Borba of Escalon, Brandon Borba of Sonora and Brooke Borba of Escalon and his great granddaughter Kaia Borba of Alaska. Alvin also leaves behind his siblings, Belmira Orte of Fremont, Elsie Dutra of Escalon and Velma Vasconcellos of Escalon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A vigil service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass on Wednesday, July 13 at 10 a.m., also at St. Patrick’s Church, interment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
