Teachers College Hosts Preview Day For Prospective Students
Teachers college

The Teachers College of San Joaquin (TCSJ) is holding a Preview Day on Saturday, Feb. 8 for prospective students interested in learning about the college and how it can help them start or grow their career in education. The TCSJ is part of the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) and housed within the SJCOE campus in Stockton.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Teachers College of San Joaquin, 2721 Transworld Drive, Stockton.

In addition to providing information about TCSJ’s teaching credential programs, the event will be a resource for current teachers interested in pursuing a master’s degree in education (M.Ed.), or becoming an administrator. The event will consist of a continental breakfast, information sessions, a question-and-answer panel with current students and alumni, vendor tables, and mock classes.

“This annual event is not only fun but gives prospective students the opportunity to learn about our programs and experience first-hand what our college’s culture and community is like,” TCSJ College and Community Liaison Katie Turner said.

TCSJ credential programs include the Administrative Services Credential Program, the IMPACT Preliminary Teaching Credential Program, which allows teachers to work as interns while earning their credential, and Residency@TCSJ, a second option the college offers for acquiring a preliminary teaching credential, where residents receive placement with a master teacher for an entire school year while taking coursework.

The college’s six M.Ed. concentrations allow students to pursue a master’s degree in a concentration of their choice, such as Environmental Literacy or Special Education.

Those interested in attending Preview Day should RSVP online at https://teacherscollegesj.edu/Home/PreviewDay.

Founded in 2009 by the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE), Teachers College of San Joaquin (TCSJ) is the only WASC accredited institution of higher education that is a department within a county office of education. TCSJ provides a variety of options for those who wish to pursue a career in the field of education.
