Sworn in by Escalon Police Chief Mike Borges, left, new Reserve Officer Nathaniel Vieira was introduced at the Sept. 17 Escalon City Council meeting as the department’s newest member. Vieira is an Escalon High School graduate, Class of 2009, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agri Business from CSU Chico, and a Master of Business Administration from CSU Stanislaus. He graduated from the San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy in October 2107. After his graduation from the academy, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, and is scheduled to attend Officer Candidate School soon. He currently is an Ag Inspector for Stanislaus County. His said his decision to join the National Guard, as well as the police department was influenced by his desire to serve the community. His mother performed his badge pinning, and a large crowd of family and friends were on hand to support him.
