The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors is seeking volunteers to serve on various boards and commissions at the county level. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, June 18. Board members will consider qualified applications, received on or before the deadline, at the county board meeting of July 13, 2021.

Escalon is in the Fourth District, represented on the county board by Supervisor Chuck Winn, who serves as vice-chair. Other cities in the district are Lodi and Ripon, as well as several smaller surrounding communities.

Four openings are available in District Four, with one position on the Community Action Board and three on the Council for Quality Education and Care of Children.

For the Community Action Board, the only requirement for applicants is to be a resident of the Fourth District in San Joaquin County.

Seats for the Council for Quality Education and Care of Children are in three different areas: a Community Representative, a Consumer Representative and one Public Agency Representative.

The Community Representative guidelines call for an applicant who represents an agency or business that provides private funding for child care services, or who advocates for child care services through participation in civic or community-based organizations but is not a child care provider and does not represent an agency that contracts with the California Department of Education to provide child care and development services.

The Consumer Representative post is open to applicants who are a parent of a person who receives or who has received within the past 36 months, child care services.

Applications are available at the Clerk of the Board office at 44 N. San Joaquin St., Suite 627, Stockton. They can also be obtained online at: www.sjgov.org/department/cob/boards_commissions_committees

Those interested can also email committees@sjgov.org or call the board clerk at 209-468-2350 for more information.

All members appointed by the Board of Supervisors will be required to attend training. The training dates and registration information will be provided by the Clerk of the Board upon appointment.
