COVID-19 Protocol

Based on recommendations from the campus Infectious Disease Response Team, input from the COVID-19 Campus Consultation Team and campus and county community transmission levels, effective immediately Stan State will:

No longer require wearing face coverings while outdoors;

No longer require outdoor physical distancing; and

Continue to require everyone to wear face coverings (three-ply surgical masks or higher-level respirators, such as N95s, KN95s or KF94s) when indoors. Face coverings are available through the COVID-19 Supply Store and at classroom building entrances.

 

Stan State Alumna Shares Culture

Stanislaus State Alumna Jenny Yang is drawing from her education and culture to teach third graders in a Hmong dual language immersion program at Vang Pao Elementary in Fresno, one of five Hmong dual language immersion programs in the United States. Yang was recently featured in an episode of PBS’s “Inside California Education” program.

 

Diversity Speaker Series

Three speakers are set to launch the Warrior Cross Cultural Center’s Diversity Speaker Series at Stan State. Tim Wise kicks off this year’s all virtual, three-person lineup on Wednesday, March 9, followed by Yomaira Figueroa-Vasquez on March 10 and Luis Valdez on March 24.

 

Psychological Counseling Services

With universities and colleges seeking to bolster their counseling staff to meet the increased demand for help after two years of a global pandemic, Stanislaus State found help from one of its own. Cynthia Borges-O’Dell, who had been treating the incarcerated at the San Joaquin County Jail as chief mental health clinician for the county’s Correctional Health Care, has returned to her alma mater as the director of Psychological Counseling Services.

 

Celebrating Women’s History

Stan State celebrates Women’s History Month annually during the month of March. There are a number of events planned throughout the month, including the 12th Annual Women’s Leadership Forum happening Thursday, March 10.

Stan State’s Cheer Team ranked second in the nation at the USA Collegiate Championship Competition. Congratulations, Warriors.

 

Professor Emeritus Clyde Collard

Colleagues remember Professor Emeritus Clyde Collard as a dedicated educator and prolific writer who loved to interact with people. Collard, who taught in Stan State’s Department of Sociology for 20 years, died Feb. 11. He was 91.
