One of the favorite events of Homecoming Week, the Powder Puff games on Wednesday, Sept. 8 featured a trio of contests.

In the opener, the senior girls took on and defeated the freshmen by a lopsided 44-6 final. Game two pitted the sophomores against the juniors and the sophomores were able to take control, winning that contest by a 21-6 final.

In the finale, the seniors went in looking to claim the Powder Puff crown but the determined, athletic and quick sophomores had other ideas. While the seniors had allowed just one touchdown to the freshmen in the opener, they suffered the same fate at the hands of the sophomores. Final score in the championship game was 25-6 with the sophomores taking the title.

The game serves as a fundraiser for the Escalon High School track and field program.

Powder Puff is serious stuff for the participants, as evidenced here by the determination shown by junior Molly Terpstra as she angles away from the defense.
