Sober Grad Plans Taking Shape
EHS COUGARS

With approval for an in-person graduation this year, planning committee members have also been given the go-ahead to put together an EHS Sober Grad Nite event. The party for EHS graduating seniors will run from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m.; doors will close at 11 p.m. and students will not be allowed to leave before 3 a.m. unless picked up by a parent.

Date for the event is Friday, June 4 and it will begin shortly after the conclusion of the high school graduation ceremony on Engel Field in Memorial Stadium.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door and every student must have a signed permission slip and a waiver to purchase a ticket.

Among the organizers this year is Krysten Lial, who said they are eager to put together a memorable event.

“We are operating as a committee under the EEF, Escalon Educational Foundation,” Lial explained.

She added that they are currently looking for donations, accepting monetary donations as well as $10 gift cards for businesses such as Dutch Bros., Chick-fil-A, In-n-Out and more.

Also sought are movie theater-type candy and snacks, including king size candy bars, boxes of candy, corn nuts, individual cans of chips, etc.

As in past years, every student attending will go home with a prize of some kind and the idea is to give the graduating seniors a safe, sober and fun environment to share their final night of high school with classmates.

Activities will be hosted on the high school campus, with a few events in the Performing Arts Center and many of them outdoors on the tennis courts and in the courtyard outside the gym.

Being planned are casino tables, a photo booth, laser tag, corn hole, movies, food, caricature artist, hypnotist and more.

The signed wavier, permission slip and payment should be turned in at the EHS library; those students on distance learning are asked to call to make an appointment to turn in the required items.
