A mid-afternoon single vehicle accident on Dodds Road, east of Henry Road, claimed the life of a Stockton man last week..

According to the California Highway Patrol report, the man was driving a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer eastbound on Dodds Road, just east of the intersection with Henry Road. The victim was identified as Harris Riddle, 70, of Stockton; his identity was released through the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.

CHP officers said Riddle was eastbound on Dodds Road at approximately 55 to 60 miles per hour about 2:35 p.m. Thursday, May 13. As he passed through the intersection with Henry Road, the right side tires of his vehicle went off the right side of the road. The driver made an abrupt turning movement to the left in an attempt to regain control of the vehicle but the Mercury then began to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction. The vehicle then continued off the north edge of the roadway and began to overturn shortly after it went onto the dirt shoulder. Riddle was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, said the CHP, and was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Firefighters from Escalon and Farmington responded to the scene to assist in addition to the law enforcement and emergency medical services personnel.
