As the designated Consolidated Transportation Service Agency (CTSA) under the name Access San Joaquin (ASJ), RTD is launching a robust and informative campaign to promote My Ride, a volunteer driver program that allows Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) certified passengers to travel with drivers they already know and trust. This program offers mileage reimbursement to drivers, giving ADA-certified passengers additional freedom to travel with more ease and comfort.
The parameters of travel were modified in summer 2021 to include countywide necessary trips such as grocery shopping and visiting families in addition to medical appointments.
“At a time when passengers are still returning to travel amidst COVID concerns and restrictions,” said RTD Mobility Manager Maximillian Calder, “this program offers ADA-certified passengers additional peace of mind to ride with familiar individuals.”
As a majority of the current program’s users are concentrated in the Stockton Metropolitan Area, the marketing efforts will be focused on promoting the program countywide—particularly to Manteca, Ripon, and Lathrop.
