PAINTING PRESENTATION

Escalon Historical Society President Dave Russell, right, presents the oil painting “Farmer’s Relic” to the winner of the society’s ‘Park Fete’ raffle, Morris Garcia. The painting by Corrie VanderHelm-Davis depicts an old barn that still stands on Brennan Road just outside Escalon. Russell said the raffle – which normally would have been held in conjunction with Park Fete but was a stand-alone event this year, was very rewarding for the Escalon Historical Society. The winner, Garcia, was raised on a dairy farm in Escalon, is a longtime member of the society and is known for writing a children’s book “Henry, The Brave Little Tractor”, which can be purchased at the museum.
