Representative Josh Harder is reminding constituents that nominations are still being accepted for high school marching bands across the Valley to be chosen to play at the National Spirit of American Independence Day Parade on July 4, 2023 in Washington DC. The parade is sponsored by the National Park Service and will commemorate the 247th birthday of the nation.

Harder’s office is encouraging parents and students alike to nominate their high school marching band to represent California in the parade. This world-class parade will take place in Washington DC along the National Mall. To nominate your favorite high school marching band in the Valley, send an email to: katie.jaycox1@mail.house.gov with the band name and brief summary of why you think they should represent our country in the parade.

Five high school marching bands from Rep. Harder’s district will be nominated for this prestigious honor. Nominations are due by Sunday, April 3.

“We have some of the best high school marching bands in the world here in the Valley and I’m incredibly excited to nominate five to represent us in Washington DC next year,” said Rep. Harder. “If you’re a musician at one of our high schools, a proud parent, or a dedicated fan, reach out to my office and nominate your favorite band today. Let’s make sure the whole nation sees the talent we have right here in our community.”

The Parade consists of invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIPs, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. Read more on the website, july4thparade.com.
