An early morning fire on Monday, March 4 in the 1500 block of Daniels resulted in some damage to the home but was quickly extinguished by firefighters on scene.
Fire Chief Rick Mello said the call came in just after 4:30 a.m. Monday and was originally reported as a structure fire at Highway 120 and McHenry Avenue. While firefighters were on the way to the scene, the call was updated and reported as a fire in a backyard on Daniels. Crews found a fire in an attached patio and it had also spread to the attic, official said.
“They made entry, got to the back part of the house and were able to contain it to the right rear corner of the house,” Mello explained.
The fire damaged the attic and a corner of the home in the back.
Five firefighters were on scene and were able to get the fire under control relatively quickly, said Mello, with no injuries reported.
