Memorial Day Services Set At Three Locations
Post 263

Monday, May 29 is Memorial Day and there will be a trio of services staged in and around the Escalon area in observance of the holiday.

More than just a time for family barbecues and a day off work for many, the day is designed to honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

The Escalon American Legion/American Legion Riders Post 263 will put on three services on May 29.

The first is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery on River Road and will include a guest speaker, the laying of memorial wreaths, a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps. All are welcome to attend. Burwood is the only location that will have the guest speaker; the other sites will have the placing of wreaths, the salute and Taps.

The second service of the day is scheduled at St. John’s Cemetery, at the corner of Highway 120 and Carrolton Road, adjacent to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. That service will be at 11 a.m.

Closing out the day, the Legion members will host the final program at the Farmington Memorial Park cemetery, 5225 Escalon-Bellota Road, scheduled for noon.
