Escalon’s Senior Fun Bunch will be having their next monthly gathering on Wednesday, May 20 at the Escalon Community Center. Theme for this month is “It’s a Piece of Cake” and the May 20 session will feature an old-fashioned cakewalk as part of the festivities. There will also be entertainment, provided by The Fun Strummers.

Craft activities, refreshments and prizes are always part of the Fun Bunch monthly sessions, which typically begin at 2 p.m., and are hosted on the third Wednesday.

Also on the schedule for May 20, it’s the second of the five scheduled Escalon Farmer’s Market nights, running from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. downtown.

As they did for the first 2026 market in April, the bulk of the vendor booths will be set up on Main Street, with a portion of the street from First to Third closed off to vehicle traffic. Stores along Main Street will remain open and welcome patrons from the market, with many shops offering some specials for the evening.

The popular Senior Bucks for purchasing items from select market vendors will again be available; last month they were gone quickly. The free vouchers are valued at $20 and are provided on a first come, first serve basis to seniors 55 and older, so market officials said it’s best to get there early if you want to take advantage of the program.

There will be live music on stage, multiple fruit and produce vendors, cheese, artisans, a craft area, lots of food and beverage booths and more.

The Farmer’s Market runs the third Wednesday of the month, with the May 20 edition next, followed by market nights in June, July and August.

Escalon Lions Club is overseeing the market this year, with club member Megan McNinch serving as coordinator.
