Escalon Police Officer Steven Quilici, at right, smiles and accepts congratulations and a plaque presented by Police Chief Mike Borges at Monday night’s Escalon City Council meeting on Aug. 20. The plaque was presented on behalf of the MADD – Mothers Against Drunk Driving – organization to Officer Quilici for being the officer recording the most driving under the influence arrests for the Escalon Police Department in the past year. Borges said it previously was known as the ‘23152’ award, the penal code for DUI, but now is called the ‘MADD Hero Award.’
