Escalon Wrestling Club will be hosting its 12th annual Rib and Oyster Dinner and Dance, set for Saturday, April 22 at the Escalon Community Center. Donations are being sought, both monetary donations or items that can be used at the April 22 silent auction.

“The money we raise is used to help offset the cost of equipment and tournament costs for our young wrestlers,” said EWC President and Escalon High School head wrestling coach Derek Scott. “We are the cheapest program available at $60 a wrestler. This includes travel, training and mandatory gear; no student is turned away because of financial reasons.”

If you have an item to donate for the silent auction, it can be picked up or mailed in; contact Scott at 209-499-3941 to arrange the pick up or for more information on mailing the item in.

Tickets for the April 22 dinner and dance are available for $40 per person, purchase by April 10.

Happy hour is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; auction from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The menu includes baby back ribs, BBQ oysters, bread, salad, baked potato and full bar. To go orders will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

For more information or tickets, contact Scott at 499-3941 or Tracey Miller at 595-6735.

“This club team is essential in developing self-worth and discipline in these young athletes,” added Scott. “This benefits them in all other sports and facets of their lives. Your support has been vital in the development of these young men and given many a chance at a college education.”
